The melon is related to the cucumber and pumpkin. It is therefore actually a fruit vegetable. The Galia melon is a cross between a cantaloupe and a honeydew melon. Galia melons have more flesh than other types of melons. The skin of the round yellow-green Galia melon looks a bit like cork due to the light ribs. The flesh is green-white and tastes spicy-sweet.
