In 1780, Abraham Hartevelt purchased the distillery “De Fransche Kroon” on the Langegracht in Leiden and gave the distillery the name Distilleerderij Hartevelt. Abraham passed away in 1793 and left everything to his sons Adrianus and Joannes. In addition to the business, they also inherited his ambition for expansion. Hartevelt vieux has a wonderfully smooth and spicy flavor, a true classic.
