The Marula gin is an accessible, smooth gin, inspired by the Miombo forests in Namibia. In those forests stands the Sclerocarya Birrea, also known as the Marula tree. This tree produces small fruits barely 2 to 3 centimeters in size. These fruits are said to possess an enormous magical power. It is the forbidden fruit of the elephant tree. Three Antwerp gin connoisseurs made a gin based on this fruit and added botanicals such as coriander, lavender, orange blossom, and rose petals. Combine this gin with a traditional tonic and garnish with an orange zest or a slice of pink grapefruit.
