About Southern Comfort
Southern Comfort is the whiskey liqueur from New Orleans, developed in 1874 by bartender Martin Wilkes Heron as an alternative to the unrefined whiskeys of that time. Heron mixed whiskey with various ingredients, such as orange and cinnamon, to create an accessible whiskey flavor. In other words: ‘Whiskey made comfortable’. The unique taste of Southern Comfort arises from the combination of nearly 100 different herbs, fruits, and other ingredients. Exactly which ones remains unknown, as the original recipe is still a closely guarded secret.
