Hospice de Beaune wines are Grand Cru wines that are donated free of charge by the great chateaux of Burgundy to the hospital in Beaune. Every third Sunday of November, the most famous wine auction in the world takes place in the French Beaune. Under the leadership of Christie’s, the wines of Hospices de Beaune are sold to the highest bidder during a grand event. The proceeds largely go to charities, such as research into cardiovascular diseases. The Hospices de Beaune foundation was established in 1443 by Nicolas Rolin to help the poor and sick in Beaune (Burgundy).
