Krug Grande Cuvée was born from Joseph Krug’s dream to create the very best champagne he could offer, year after year, regardless of climatic variations.
Each year, Maison Krug honors his vision with a new Édition of Krug Grande Cuvée: the most generous expression of Champagne. Beyond the concept of vintages, Krug Grande Cuvée is always a blend of more than 120 individual wines from over 10 different years, offering a fullness of flavors and aromas impossible to achieve with the wines of a single year. Crafted around the harvest of 2016, Krug Grande Cuvée 172ème Édition is a blend of 146 wines from 11 different years. The youngest is from 2016, while the oldest dates back to 1998.
In total, reserve wines from the House’s extensive library make up 42% of the final blend, bringing the depth and roundness essential to each Édition of Krug Grande Cuvée.
The final composition of this champagne is 44% Pinot Noir, 36% Chardonnay, and 20% Meunier.
In all, more than 20 years of meticulous craftsmanship were required to create Krug Grande Cuvée 172ème Édition.
