Diemersfontein has belonged to the Sonnenberg family for 3 generations, going back to the early 1940s. Originally, it was established by the Hanseatic captain Diemer as a fruit farm. In 1943, it was purchased by Max Sonnenberg. In the 1970s, his son Richard began planting vines, and in the year 2000, his grandson David Sonnenberg built his first wine cellar and started producing high-quality wines from the estate. The estate is 183 hectares in size and is located in the shadow of the majestic Hawekwa mountains, offering a panoramic view of both the Du Toitskloof and Bainskloof mountain ranges. The Prodigy, freely translated as Wonderkind, refers by definition to a young person with exceptional qualities or abilities. Exactly that is found in this cheerful Pinotage wine. Unlike its older siblings, Coffee/Chocolate-style Pinotage, this wine breathes the unique, youthful, and vibrant characteristics of this truly South African variety. Due to its versatility, it pairs perfectly with roasted duck, lamb stews, and even chocolate soufflé.
