The brown beech mushroom is also known as the Shimeji mushroom. Beech mushrooms mainly grow in clusters on beech trees. The brown beech mushroom has a deep earthy flavor. There is also a white variant which is lighter in taste. The flavor of the brown beech mushroom is reminiscent of nuts and the texture of the mushroom is firm. Due to the strong flavor, the beech mushroom is less suitable for eating raw. It is therefore recommended to prepare the product warm. The mushroom should not be heated for too long, as it will otherwise lose its crunchy texture. Brown beech mushroom pairs perfectly with fish dishes.
