Rendang is a Sumatran meat dish. Or an Indonesian stew from the island of Sumatra. Beef has a long cooking time. The Dutch grandma's braised beef is usually used for the rendang (sapi = beef). Instead of Dutch spices, oriental spices are added here. Kokki Djawa Boemboe (spice mix) Rendang is also suitable for chicken, eggs, and tofu/tempeh. The sauce is thickened with coconut milk.
