Haddock belongs to the cod family, the fish has a silvery-grey color and can be recognized by the typical dark spot on the flank. This is called the 'thumbprint of St. Peter'. Haddock is caught in the northeastern part of the Atlantic Ocean and can reach a length of up to 100 centimeters and a weight of up to 16 kilos. The fish flesh has a white color and a loose, soft texture. The taste of haddock is stronger and more refined than that of cod. Due to the texture of the flesh, haddock is very suitable for frying or poaching.
