Cafe 't Smalle Drinken in the Jordaan in Amsterdam has a special history. On the site of the current cafe, Pieter Hoppe started a liqueur and gin distillery in 1780. Hoppe's distillery became increasingly well-known and years later settled in Schiedam for capacity and logistical reasons. Hoppe Jenever grew into one of the Netherlands' best-known jenevers and is popular far beyond our borders. Hoppe Vieux is by far the most popular vieux in the Netherlands, traditionally prepared and rich in flavor, perfect for atmospheric evenings with friends and family. The subtle tones of Hoppe Vieux make it such a quality product, tones of caramel and anise add just that little extra that makes it so immensely popular.
