This Vannamei shrimp is also known as whiteleg shrimp. The animal is now widely farmed in, among others, Asia and South America. Many farmers have switched from black tiger to vannamei because they grow faster and can have more volume in a pond. The shrimp has a firm texture and a mild flavor. With these headless shrimps, the back is cut so they are easy to peel after cooking. These shrimps are packed 13 - 15 pieces per English pound (454 grams).
