In the kitchen of Soenil Bahadoer, east and west come together. In his two-star restaurant De Lindehof in Brabant's Nuenen, he surprises the taste buds of his guests. Cosmopolitan gastronomy is enriched by Soenil with Surinamese-Indian ingredients and flavors, and the result is a feast for the eyes and palate. On his plates, a perfect fusion takes place of Surinamese street food and haute cuisine. With over fifty recipes, the Spicy Chef tells the story of his Surinamese-Indian heritage and the role of food within his family: the tastiest snacks, such as a brioche with saltfish and roasted tomato compote, and dishes like braised beef rendang with ginger beer ice cream, or the family recipe for Surinamese noodles. The dishes are feasible, challenging, and surprising, thus forming a beautiful reflection of Soenil's new Surinamese-Indian cuisine.
