An artisanal whisky made near Dufftown, at the distillery everything is done in-house; barley grown, malted themselves, maintaining the casks, and when the whisky is ready, they bring it back to 40% with local water. The Balvenie DoubleWood matures for at least twelve years in American oak casks that previously held American whisky. This whisky is then transferred to 'first fill' sherry casks for a 'finish'. The taste is soft and smooth and in perfect harmony - sweet, nutty, cinnamon, and a delicate layer of sherry.
