The grapes for the Mas des Mas Pezenas are harvested around a volcano, resulting in basalt veins in the soil. This explains the minerality in this wine. The taste of this wine, made from mourvèdre, grenache, syrah, and carignan, is full and present with red berries, licorice, and soft tannins. Powerful on the nose with blackcurrants, spices, and a hint of olive tapenade. The series of wines, called Mas des Mas, is the showpiece of the Mas family.
