The grapes are hand-picked and then taken to the Bodega Baron Philippe de Rothschild Maipo Chile, in the heart of the Maipo Valley. The bodega combines wood and steel in a distinctive architectural style and features state-of-the-art equipment that also respects the great wine traditions. Escudo Rojo Carmenere is vinified in the Bordeaux way, favoring the extraction of the fruit and a smooth, balanced tannin structure. Dark red with a purple hue. The nose opens on ripe blackcurrant fruit aromas, followed after aeration by notes of roasted coffee beans and black pepper. On the palate, a very expressive attack with black fruit as promised in the aroma, the peppery notes that develop with aeration offer a mid-palate that exudes power. The finish lingers with an intense array of black fruits, spices, and roasted coffee bean flavors.
