Codorniu 1872 Brut is made as a tribute to the first bottle of cava in history, made in 1872 by Josep Raventós and a distinctive blend of the grape varieties Xarel-lo, Parellada, and Macabeo. The Cava, the traditional Catalan sparkling wine, combines the soft fruitiness of Xarel-lo, the elegance of Parellada, and the structure of Macabeo. The grapes come from Penedès, the main wine region of Catalonia, not far from Barcelona. The Cava has a light yellow color. On the nose, aromas of citrus and almonds. There are also hints of honey and toast. On the palate creamy, balanced, and simply fresh. Enjoy this sparkling wine as an aperitif or with fish dishes.
