Gyoza originally comes from ancient China and the original name is jiaozi. Jiaozi came to Japan during World War II when Japanese soldiers discovered it during their stay in China. Upon returning to Japan, they wanted to copy the jiaozi and thus gyoza was created. The possibilities with gyoza are endless. Yaki gyoza (fried), mushi gyoza (steamed), sui gyoza (boiled) and age gyoza (deep-fried); which preparation will you choose?
