This Vannamei shrimp is also known as whiteleg shrimp. The animal is now widely farmed in Asia and South America, among other places. Many farmers have switched from black tiger to vannamei because they grow faster and can have more volume in a pond. The shrimp has a firm texture and a mild flavor. These raw shrimps are headless, tailless, peeled, and deveined, and contain 16 - 20 pieces in an English pound (454 grams).
