
Savory French toast with Pan Brioche
A savory version of French toast using Pan Brioche as the base. With a topping of caramelized mushrooms, this is a surprising dish.Ingredients
mixed mushrooms
chopped onion
Clove of garlic, finely chopped
Balsamic vinegar
Apple syrup
Thyme
Parsley
Pan brioche, sliced
Eggs
Milk
Salt
Pepper
Butter
Preparation
- Heat butter in a frying pan over medium heat. Sauté the onion and garlic for 2 to 3 minutes until translucent.
- Add the vinegar and apple syrup and cook over medium to high heat for 1 to 2 minutes until it becomes syrupy.
- Add the mixed mushrooms and fry for 3-4 minutes until they caramelize.
- Add the thyme and toss. Remove from the heat and keep warm, covered. Season with salt and pepper.
- For the French toast, whisk the milk and salt together in a bowl. Have the beaten eggs ready in a shallow dish.
- Heat butter in a large frying pan over medium heat.
- Dip 2 slices of Pan Brioche first in the milk mixture and then in the egg. Fry the French toast for 2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
