Valentine's grissini

A 'Valentine's' grissini made with beetroot juice.

Ingredients

15gDry yeast (or 5 g fresh yeast)
50mlWater
500gFlour
10gSalt
230mlBeetroot juice
1Yakso agave syrup
50mlOlive oil

Preparation

  1. Dissolve the yeast in the water.
  2. Put the flour in a KitchenAid with the paddle attachment and turn the machine on.
  3. Add salt and the water with the dissolved yeast.
  4. Then add the beet juice, agave syrup, and olive oil.
  5. Mix until a nice dough forms.
  6. Knead the dough by hand and let it rest for 1 hour under plastic wrap at room temperature.
  7. After resting, cut the dough into strips and roll them into grissini. (Tip: optionally roll the grissini through fine cornmeal.)
  8. Bake the grissini for about 15 minutes at 190°C in the oven.
  9. Serve the grissini with a soup or use them creatively as an appetizer!
