Anise seeds have a warm, licorice-like flavor. The taste and smell are somewhat reminiscent of licorice. It is delicious in combination with chicken, cheese, and fruit and is therefore used in cookies, raw vegetable dishes, beet salads, and fruit salads. The seeds are also nice to stew with in winter dishes and sauces. Anise seeds (whole) retain flavor and aroma longer than the ground form.
