Plantation Rum is the widely acclaimed rum brand of Maison Ferrand, the award-winning producer of Pierre Ferrand Cognac and Citadelle Gin. In 1989, Maison Ferrand was taken over by Alexandre Gabriel, whose curiosity about rum brought him to the Caribbean. He brought a selection of rums back to Cognac in France and had them undergo a second maturation in his own Pierre Ferrand cognac barrels. Plantation Xaymaca pays tribute to the famous Jamaican-style pot still rums, characterized by the funky 'hogo' aroma. This rum is a blend of Jamaican rums, which are first aged up to three years in bourbon barrels in Jamaica and then undergo a second maturation in cognac barrels in France. In France, the rum is blended a second time with a seventeen-year-old Jamaican bonifactor rum.
