In the Fortis edition, Starward uses non-chill filtered single malt with a high alcohol content of 50%. It is made from Australian barley and craft brewer’s yeast, which adds extra flavor. It is matured in 100% American oak barrels that impart a sumptuously rich taste and enhance the toasted oak and vanilla characteristics inherent to the whisky.
The whisky also features juicy red wine notes thanks to barrels sourced mainly from Barossa Valley Shiraz and Cabernet wines. A few barrels are charred to add depth and intensity—however, most are fresh, which imparts intense red wine aromas. Like all Starward whiskies, this one offers an approachable and velvety smoothness.
