Don Papa Rum, produced by the Bleeding Heart Rum Company, is a tribute to Papa Isio, an almost forgotten hero of the Philippine revolution. Don Papa, formerly a foreman on a sugarcane plantation, joined the resistance to drive out the Spanish rulers from his beloved homeland. Don Papa Rum is distilled on the Philippine island of Negros from the finest sugarcane grown on rich, volcanic soil, giving it its unique flavor. During the misery of the sugarcane crisis, the idea for this colorful Festival was born. For 40 years, in October, one of the biggest festivals in the Philippines, the streets of Negros are filled with partying and dancing people.
