The idea behind Velvet Cap was to make a whiskey to enjoy, not to hide on a shelf." This whiskey owes its name to the velvet caps traditionally worn by jockeys in point-to-point races, dating back to 1752. Riders raced over fence and ditch between two churches - from one steeple to the other, where the name 'steeplechase' comes from.
