Château de Chemilly is a family business founded in 1973 by Jean-Pierre and Philippe Vilain. The Vilain family started with a small vineyard and now has vineyards in various parts of Chablis. Currently, the company has about 30 hectares of vineyards, and nowadays it is Loïc and Yannick Vilain, the sons, who manage the vineyards. The soil in this wine region has a limestone ground, also called 'la terre blanche'. Limestone is not very permeable but retains a lot of water. The light color of the soil absorbs heat less quickly but also retains it longer. The vineyards are more than 30 years old and deeply rooted. This results in typical Chablis wines with beautiful mineral and floral tones. This Petit Chablis has concentrated citrus fruit aromas, peach, apple, and a generous dose of minerality. A nice acidity and a delightful freshness!
