Château Canet is an estate of 115 hectares nestled in the Minervois, a stone's throw from Carcassonne in the south of France, owned by the Dutch Lemstra-Bake family. In a corner of the cellar lie a number of barrels of new French oak. These contain the yield from the best part of the chardonnay vineyard, which is a special terroir with a beautiful mineral structure. Besides a perfect grape and a brilliant winemaker, the oak aging of the alternative is an important part of the final result. The oak is chosen by the winemaker and cooper, dries for 36 months, and the barrels are made in an artisanal way. Aromas of citrus and white fruit (peach, pear), vanilla and wood, toasted bread and almonds. A full and creamy yet still very fresh structure in the mouth with a long and fresh finish.
