Les Evangiles is a small vineyard with old Syrah vines. It is the highest vineyard of the Domaine and has a great terroir with deep soils of clay and limestone. The average yield is very small but also very concentrated (in 2007 they produced only 28 hectoliters per hectare) and this forms the basis for a great wine. A long fermentation results in extracting the full potential of the grapes after which the wine is aged in oak barrels from Burgundy (30% new, 40% one year old, and 30% two-year-old barrels). Les Evangiles is a full-bodied round wine with a generous fruity taste of blackcurrants and blackberries and a hint of tobacco, mocha, and vanilla. The wine has a rich structure and velvety tannins.
