The property register of the Tiefenthal monastery, which was subordinate to Kloster Eberbach, mentions real estate in the Rauenthaler Berg for the first time at the beginning of the 13th century. Documents from 1900 show that the Baiken was purchased by the Prussian government for 1.12 million gold marks. The name Baiken comes from the word “buigen” (to bend) because the site is located in a curve. The steep, south-facing slope with an incline of up to 60% receives optimal sunlight, allowing it to warm up slightly. Medium-deep to deep – stony, mostly lime-free soils consist of weathered slate, phyllites, quartzite, and loess clay. The yield from the "Crescentia" vineyards is very limited. The grapes come from valuable single vineyard sites and clearly reflect the character of the vineyard.
Fantastic blossom honey and ripe white and yellow peach aromas pour from the glass of this sensational Riesling Spätlese. Very juicy and lively, with a mineral freshness. An extremely complex and dynamic finish with notes of blood orange and fresh basil.
