In Bierzo, altitude is one of the most important factors determining the characteristics of grape varieties (the different soil types are another important factor). Bierzo is a main valley with side valleys that offer an incredible diversity of conditions influencing the grape varieties. A natural wealth from which wines emerge, ranging from floral wines to more complex and mineral wines. Because very old vines are harvested (bush vines), there is no possibility to mechanize the harvest, and therefore all grapes are hand-picked, which is also a perfect way to ensure the highest quality. Mencía is a native red grape in the Bierzo region. Among the main characteristics, we can highlight herbal and floral notes that are sometimes combined with intense fruity aromas and/or complex mineral hints. Cherry red color with deep purple shimmer. Ripe aromas of red and black fruit along with mineral hints and floral notes. Round, velvety.
