Fried calamari

These fried calamari rings are easy to make and a party on every raki table.

Ingredients

500gfresh squid
4Baking powder
1Sea salt
0.5Sugar
100mlWater
0.5Lemon
Flour

Preparation

  1. Cut the squid into rings of 1-2 cm and place them in a large deep plate.
  2. Add baking powder, sea salt, and sugar.
  3. Squeeze the rings well with your hands to marinate them and also to remove the rubbery texture.
  4. Then add the water and the juice of half a lemon.
  5. Continue squeezing the squid rings and wrap them in aluminum foil.
  6. Preferably let the rings marinate in the refrigerator overnight (or at least 2 hours).
  7. Put enough sunflower oil in a large pan or deep fryer and heat it over medium heat.
  8. Put the flour in a bowl, along with salt to taste.
  9. Coat the squid rings in the flour mixture, gently shake off excess flour, and then place them in the pan with oil.
  10. Fry them for about 1 minute until lightly golden brown.
  11. Serve with lemon wedges.
