Masala Papad
A fresh salad served on a 'papad'. Recipe by Paulami Joshi. Serves 4.Masala literally means 'spice mix'; in this dish, the fresh salad is served on the 'papad': a fried, crispy pappadum.Ingredients
1Tomato, finely chopped
1Onion, finely chopped
0.5Salt
0.5Cumin powder
1Cucumber, finely chopped
10gCoriander, finely chopped (optional)
2Lemon juice
150gPomegranate seeds
Sunflower oil
8pappadums
Preparation
- Mix onion, tomato, cucumber, coriander, pomegranate seeds, salt, cumin powder, and lemon juice and let the flavors meld for at least 5 minutes.
- Heat sunflower oil in a deep fryer to 180°C.
- Fry the papadums for a few minutes.
- Drape the salad over the papadums and serve immediately.
