Flower onion

Discover the delicious taste and unique shape of the Flower onion. Serve with a suitable (garlic) dipping sauce.

Ingredients

Spanish onions
1Milk
1units.itemsEgg
Madras curry
apple and pear corer
Flour

Preparation

  1. Clean a medium-sized onion at the root end, only removing the root base (do not cut off the bottom).
  2. Remove the thin, outer layer.
  3. Press the apple and pear slicer onto the onion and push down, but not all the way through. Remove the slicer from the onion.
  4. Now cut each segment again, so you have 20 segments.
  5. Carefully remove the central part.
  6. Blanch the onion for 1 minute and cool in ice water.
  7. Mix 1 deciliter of milk with 1 egg.
  8. Season white flour with Madras curry.
  9. Dip the onion in the milk, pat dry, and coat well in the flour (also between the segments).
  10. Then dip again in the milk and coat once more in the flour.
  11. Deep-fry in oil until crispy.
